Amateur Team Competition
Lots of additional value (goody bags, daily nutrition, on-road support) from our Tour partners - High 5, SIXS, Rudy Project, Scicon, Vision, Fast Forward, the City of Drakenstein, Pinarello, Franschhoek Cycles, Europcar.
Amateur (open/seeded) riders have the option to either enter solo or in teams of eight. These eight-man or eight-woman teams will ride in a specially designated bunch catering for 15 teams.
Riders will for the first time be able to enter mixed teams (minimum 4 x women with 2 women having to finish among top four daily) who will race for their own overall trophy.
The team time trial will take place on the same day as the individual time trial (stage 2), but only riders entered as 8-man open/seeded teams in the team competition will compete in this discipline. Riders who enter as individuals in the open/seeded category as well as all other racing categories (elite/junior, Vets 30+, Vets 40+ Vets 50+ and elite ladies) will compete in the individual time trial on the triangular course which links Paarl and Franschhoek to La Paris.
Riders who enter as one of these eight-person teams will ride in their own GC competition, separate from the GC competition in the individual open/seeded category.
Overall times will be recorded by RaceTec and the best individually entered open/seeded rider AND rider who forms part of one of the amateur teams will be allocated a GC prize.
Both the team bunch and individual bunch will have their own King of the Mountain (KOM) competition – riders will be seeded into the A bunch and can then compete for the Red Jersey - and a separate KOM competition will also be in place for the amateur men's teams.
The team prize in the amateur team competition will take into account the fourth rider’s time from a team on a daily basis, which will then be tallied up to calculate the overall winning team.
This year saw a number of corporate entities take part in the amateur teams category, creating a fledgling rivalry which is likely to be fuelled by all the added incentives this year.
AS STATED, ONLY 15 TEAM ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE AMATEUR TEAM CATEGORY ON A FIRST COME FIRST PAID BASIS.
TO ENTER A TEAM ALL THE TEAM MEMBERS HAVE TO REGISTER ON THE ASG EVENTS ON-LINE ENTRY SYSTEM INDIVIDUALLY (DON’T ENTER YET, JUST REGISTER ON THE SYSTEM).
ONCE ALL YOUR RIDERS ARE REGISTERED , THE TEAM CAPTAIN CAN START THE ENTRY PROCESS BY CLICKING ON THE TEAM ENTRY BUTTON AND LINKING HIS TEAM MEMBERS WHEN PROMPTED.
IF ALL YOUR TEAM MEMBERS ARE LINKED TO THE SYSTEM YOU ONLY THEN NEED THEIR ID NUMBERS TO COMPLETE THEIR ENTRIES.
